Episode 347 – Arden Myrin on Steve Martin – A Wild and Crazy Guy

The hilarious Arden Myrin talks with me about Steve Martin’s influence on her, listening to this album for the first time for the show, and acting for him on stage.  It’s a fantastic conversation with a brilliantly funny comedian and actor.

Episode 181 – Aline Brosh McKenna on Fiddler on the Roof

COV_181_SD

Okay, so I give my guests the options of some things that aren’t strictly comedy, when those things inspired them and at least have some comedic elements to them.  Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devils Wears Prada, 27 Dresses AND co-creator of friend of the show Rachel Bloom’s wonderful show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) took me up on the challenge and picked Fiddler on the Roof with Zero Mostel.  There are plenty of comedic songs in Fiddler, and Zero Mostel could be funny falling down a set of stairs.

BONUS: Rob Kutner talks about his new project, Runaway Brains, co-starring Ken Jennings, Weird Al, Michael Ian Black, Lauren Lapkus and a bunch of others.  Listen on howl.fm or get the first three free here: http://apple.co/1XjUw1c

Episode 134 – Jim Hamilton on Woody Allen – Stand Up Comic

Jim Hamilton

This week, a guy I wish I’d discovered much sooner stops by to discuss a guy I wish was still as funny as he once was.  Jim Hamilton is one of the few consistent one-liner comics out there (you should listen to his album “Poems About the Ocean” ASAP, the cover of which was designed by friend of the show Dave Kloc and the entirety of which was released by other friend of the show Matt Belknap’s AST Records), and he wanted to talk about one of his earliest favorite albums that not only influenced him, but caught him by surprise.  No shock, but we talk about The Moose joke again, because it’s the best.
