Episode 347 – Arden Myrin on Steve Martin – A Wild and Crazy Guy

The hilarious Arden Myrin talks with me about Steve Martin’s influence on her, listening to this album for the first time for the show, and acting for him on stage.  It’s a fantastic conversation with a brilliantly funny comedian and actor.

Episode 286 – Josh Clark on Steve Martin – A Wild and Crazy Guy

Josh Clark co-hosts the wonderful Stuff You Should Know podcast and also has a new podcast, The End of the World with Josh Clark.  He wanted to talk about A Wild and Crazy Guy but for a NEW reason – he’d never heard it before!  I love when people take chances, and this was a blast.

cov_202_sd

Donna Lynne Champlin is not only Paula on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but she’s an album-self-producing singer, stage performer and, it turns out, a lover of Steve Martin.  After our discussion, she might be spreading this album to a younger generation.

Episode 178 – Chris White on Woody Allen – Standup Comic

COV_178_SD

Chris White is a self-described “recovering standup comic,” and he picked the perfect album to discuss – an album by a standup who quit while he was ahead.  Chris also hosts DC Improv’s The Other Side podcast on which he is currently helping the country find out who the funniest president of all time is.

Episode 134 – Jim Hamilton on Woody Allen – Stand Up Comic

Jim Hamilton

This week, a guy I wish I’d discovered much sooner stops by to discuss a guy I wish was still as funny as he once was.  Jim Hamilton is one of the few consistent one-liner comics out there (you should listen to his album “Poems About the Ocean” ASAP, the cover of which was designed by friend of the show Dave Kloc and the entirety of which was released by other friend of the show Matt Belknap’s AST Records), and he wanted to talk about one of his earliest favorite albums that not only influenced him, but caught him by surprise.  No shock, but we talk about The Moose joke again, because it’s the best.
