Video Episode – 166 with Phil Proctor on the History of Firesign, Part 1

Finally, after much too  much trial and error, the video of our first in a series on Firesign Theatre’s history, with Phil Proctor.

Episode 166 – Phil Proctor on the History of Firesign, Part 1

COV_166_SD

This week, we begin retracing the history of Firesign with Phil Proctor, in part one of a mini-series covering every album from the Columbia years, and perhaps moving on to more.  Phil is currently working on an autobiography, so he’s in the storytelling mood, so while we planned to cover the first three albums on this episode, at the end of the show we’re JUST up to the group solidifying.  We’re joined by Firesign super fans Jeremy Guskin and Greg Benson.  Also, there’s video of the episode as well, which you’ll be able to watch shortly at youtube.com/comedyonvinyl.

Episode 165 – Brian Fernandes on Brian Regan Live

Fernandes_SD

Jordan, Jesse Go!’s own Sunny D, Brian Fernandes, stops by with a challenge he might not have realized was a challenge.  A stand-up album from the late nineties is very much out of my comfort zone, if only because I sort of stopped listening to and watching stand-up for a few years, starting right around when this album was released.  It was a relief finding something relatively new that I genuinely enjoyed.  And yes, this got it’s own vinyl release in 2011.

Episode 39 – Jesse Thorn on Whoopi Goldberg – The Broadway Show

This week’s episode was recorded at Maximum Fun HQ in Los Angeles.  Why, you ask?  Because this week’s guest is none other than Jesse Thorn, host of Jordan, Jesse, Go! and host of Bullseye.  This week, Jesse introduces me to an album I knew nothing about, and reminds me just how amazing Whoopi Goldberg is.
