We chose a double feature based on religious horror and found an accidentally perfect pairing. Both deal with the result of unprocessed trauma and its impact on religion (in Saint Maud, it leads to a powerful attachment to an offshoot of Catholicism and God; in The Vigil, it led to a renunciation of faith from a formerly Orthodox Jewish man) and what happens when you try to avoid your grief. (SPOILER: Nothing good; you cannot outrun your demons, literal or metaphorical.) These are powerful and profound movies and we recommend both.
